Jet is an incredibly magickal stone! In Traditional Witchcraft it is often considered a High Priest/ess stone and cannot be worn until you have been initiated. Jet does not form in a seam. Instead, it forms when an individual piece of woody material such as a tree branch is washed into a body of water, becomes waterlogged, sinks to the bottom and is covered by organic-rich sediment. It is then compacted, degraded, and heated in isolation. Jet is organic in origin and is actually compacted organic material that is fossilized. It is surprisingly light in weight and comes from a variety of countries such as the USA, Russia, England, and Turkey to name a few. For a grounding stone, this Jet has a very smooth and gentle vibration. Jet can be used in combination with virtually all other stones for healing purposes.

Jet is a fantastic stone for protection and grounding. It is often used for Ancestral Magick much in the way of Petrified wood. However, due to the a large presence of the water element, it is also good for healing ancestral trauma and helping ancestor spirits find rest. During ritual Jet has a dual function in that it allows the HP/S to ground excess energy but also allows for a direct connection with their lineage and ancestral power while in service to their community! It also can act as an energy purifier so that negative energies can either be transmuted or grounded.
